The Ecologies of Language - third international Arts & Ecology symposium |
What it is? Desire Lines is Dartington’s third annual arts & ecology symposium, which in 2007 will bring together performers, writers, ecologists, sociologists, visual artists, philosophers, psychologists, researchers, journalists, anthropologists and others to explore the Ecologies of Language. It is crucial in the current context to explore relationships between the individual and their cultural, social, economic and natural environments, in order to deepen our thinking about how we develop sustainable and creative relationships for the future. Desire Lines 2007 allows us to look in-depth at the role language plays in this framework, within an informed, challenging and supportive environment and while surrounded by astonishing natural beauty. The programme includes presentations from speakers such as Brian Goodwin, Karen Blinoce author and physicist F. David Peat, poet Alice Oswald, Michael Hrebeniak and artist, photographer and writer Beth Carruthers, as well as Open Space sessions, films, exhibition and live performance. We will also dedicate time to parallel sessions led by individuals following a call for a submission of proposals. All participants will have the opportunity to raise questions and present thoughts in a supportive but challenging and informed environment. |
Themes and Questions:
We welcome suggestions for further questions to inform the symposium, please email suggestions to Lara Lloyd at l.lloyd@dartington.org and we will post them online.
